Kichiroku Yanagiya Profile
Kichiroku Yanagiya began his Rakugo training in June 2010 under the esteemed master Karoku Yanagiya. His philosophy is to make Rakugo accessible and enjoyable even for first-time audiences.
He regularly presents a solo performance series titled “Kichiroku Musubi” at the Edo-Tokyo Museum’s Small Hall, held once every three months.
In this series, he explores new possibilities for Rakugo by collaborating beyond traditional storytelling — incorporating harp music, dance, aerial performance, and literary readings.
In March 2025, he was promoted to the prestigious rank of Shin-uchi (Master Storyteller) within the Rakugo Association.
Within just six months of his promotion, he served as headliner at Ikebukuro Engeijo Theater. His celebratory hometown performance in Togane attracted an audience of 700 people.
